What size grow tent can a 680 m³/h extractor handle?

Indoor growers typically aim for 30–60 air changes per hour. At 680 m³/h flat-out, this comfortably covers a tent up to roughly 1.2 × 1.2 × 2 m (around 2.9 m³), with margin to absorb the pressure drop of a carbon filter and several metres of ducting. For larger tents up to 1.5 × 1.5 m it remains usable provided the duct run is short and the filter is fresh.

What is the difference between an EC motor and a classic AC motor?

An AC motor runs at a fixed speed or via a separate dimmer that chops the signal — generating heat and noise. An EC (Electronically Commutated) motor embeds its own electronic speed controller: it modulates speed cleanly, consumes up to 60% less power at part-load, and lasts considerably longer. EC is now the reference technology for serious indoor grow extraction.

Where should I place the temperature/humidity probe?

Position the probe at canopy height — i.e. level with the plant tops — and out of any direct air stream from the fan or lamp outlet. Avoid hot metal surfaces and condensation zones. The 4 m cable gives you real flexibility, which matters in multi-tier setups or deep tents.

Can I pair this extractor with a carbon filter?

Yes — that's the recommended setup for odour control. Choose a Ø 125 mm carbon filter rated at or above 680 m³/h, then plumb it on the intake side: air → filter → duct → extractor → exhaust. Account for pressure losses: real flow typically drops 15–25% with a fresh filter, more so with long duct runs or bends.

Do I still need a separate thermostat or controller?

No. The LCD interface and probe already do the job of a standalone fan controller: temperature setpoint, humidity setpoint, hysteresis band and minimum speed are all on board. You only need an extra controller if you want to centralise multiple devices on a single hub — otherwise this unit is self-sufficient out of the box.
