Relative humidity is the most overlooked variable in indoor growing — yet it is what governs stomatal opening, and therefore transpiration, nutrient uptake and growth rate. When the air is too dry, your plants close their stomata to protect themselves: photosynthesis slows, VPD climbs out of range and yields drop long before any symptom shows on the leaves.

Built for compact growing spaces, the Pure Factory 4L Humidifier turns water into a cold fog of just a few microns using a piezoelectric membrane vibrating at high frequency. That mist disperses instantly into the ambient air without soaking your substrate or leaving condensation spots on the canopy — unlike evaporative units or manual hand misting.

With a 4-litre reservoir, output infinitely adjustable from 250 to 380 ml/h and a draw of only 30 W, it runs for 7 to 12 hours unattended. What humidity level should I target at each growth stage?

For cuttings and seedlings, aim for 70 to 80% relative humidity: roots are absent or barely developed, so the plant relies on its leaves for water. Through vegetative growth, 60 to 70% is a solid compromise. In flower, bring it down to 45-50% to keep botrytis away from dense buds.

What water should I use in an ultrasonic humidifier?

Use reverse-osmosis, demineralised or at least filtered water. Hard tap water leaves limescale on the piezoelectric membrane, which gradually chokes the output, and scatters a fine white mineral dust over leaves and equipment. A descale with diluted white vinegar every two to three weeks will noticeably extend the unit's life.

Does this humidifier have a built-in humidistat?

No — output is set manually on the dial, which is exactly why it offers such strong value for money. For automatic regulation, plug it into an external humidistat or a climate controller; the unit restarts at the selected output as soon as power returns.
