Carbon dioxide is the fuel of photosynthesis. Inside a sealed grow tent, plants strip the available CO2 within a few hours and levels fall well below the 400 ppm found in outdoor air. Growth stalls — even under a perfectly specified horticultural LED. The Growbro CO2 Bottle 1.8 kg, supplied by BloomLED, removes that bottleneck. It releases pure compressed CO2 passively and gradually, with no mains connection, no controller and no daily maintenance, holding an enriched atmosphere of 1000-1500 ppm in spaces of up to 4 m³.

Lifting your grow space from 400 ppm to 1000-1500 ppm removes the main limiting factor in a well-lit indoor grow. Plants fix more carbon per unit of light received, which translates into more vigorous growth, tighter internodes and denser flowering. The higher the PPFD your LED grow light delivers, the more dramatic the effect: without supplementary CO2, a large share of that PAR is simply wasted.
Unlike combustion generators or solenoid-driven systems, this bottle works by passive diffusion. No socket, no transformer, no extra load on a power strip already carrying your light, extraction fan and circulation fan. It simply sits in the tent and works continuously, which makes it ideal for small spaces and discreet setups.
Release is slow and steady, avoiding concentration spikes that are hazardous for the operator and useless to the plant. You get a stable atmosphere rather than a series of bursts — precisely the regime plants need across the whole lit period. Position the bottle high up: CO2 is heavier than air and will settle naturally over the canopy.
The Growbro 1.8 kg bottle is built to be refilled and reused cycle after cycle. Across two or three harvests the cost per gram of CO2 drops well below that of single-use sachets or cartridges, and you cut the waste your grow generates.
Metal body, protected valve and controlled pressure: the bottle is designed for repeated use in warm, humid environments. It is classified as dangerous goods for transport, which means regulated shipping, but in-tent use stays straightforward as long as you ventilate the space while working inside it.
Hang or stand the bottle in the upper third of the tent, above the canopy — never at floor level. Diffused CO2 falls under gravity and settles around the leaves, exactly where gas exchange takes place. Enrich during the lit period only: at night plants do not photosynthesise and the CO2 would be wasted. Reduce extraction slightly during enrichment hours, or run your extractor from a thermostat, so you are not venting the CO2 as fast as it is released. Finally, carbon enrichment only pays off when the other parameters keep up: 26-30 °C, humidity matched to the growth stage and an adapted feeding schedule are all required to turn that extra carbon into biomass.
Under a high-output horticultural LED, CO2 quickly becomes the first limiting factor. This Growbro 1.8 kg bottle is the simplest and cheapest way to lift that ceiling — without adding a single watt to your power bill.
In a closed space, plants exhaust the available CO2 within hours. Levels can drop below 250 ppm, throttling photosynthesis even when light, water and nutrients are optimal. Enrichment restores and then exceeds atmospheric levels, letting the plant fully exploit the PPFD your horticultural LED delivers.
It is sized for spaces up to 4 m³, which typically means a 120 x 120 x 200 cm tent or two 80 x 80 cm tents. Beyond that, run multiple units or move to a controller-regulated system. How long one charge lasts depends directly on the volume treated and on the air-exchange rate of your setup.
No. The system is passive and works with no additional equipment, which is its main advantage for beginners and compact setups. If you later want fine control over concentration, the bottle can be integrated into an external regulation loop with a CO2 probe, but that is in no way a prerequisite.
Yes, provided the two are coordinated. A fan running flat out around the clock will vent CO2 as fast as it is released. Drive extraction from a thermostat or a fan speed controller so it responds to temperature rather than running permanently: you keep the benefit of enrichment while still managing the heat your lighting produces.
