At BloomLED, indoor growing specialists for over 10 years, we know that beyond a certain grow volume ventilation stops being an accessory and becomes the heart of the whole system. The Can Fan Max-Fan Pro EC Ø250 mm belongs to that category of equipment you buy once and keep for years. With a maximum airflow of 2175 m³/h, a mixed-flow turbine delivering some of the highest aerodynamic efficiency on the market, and a latest-generation EC motor paired with a 3D rotor-stator system, it shifts considerable volumes of air while drawing far less power than an equivalent AC motor. Designed and built in Germany, it can be steplessly and completely silently controlled through a Can-Fan EC controller, which handles up to ten fans at once. This is the tool for growers running large spaces, multiple tents or a full grow room, and who refuse to trade airflow against consumption or reliability.

This is the airflow class that changes the equation: full grow rooms, banks of several tents, flowering chambers spanning many square metres. The usual rule is to replace the entire volume of the space every one to three minutes; at 2175 m³/h you keep a comfortable margin even after fitting an activated carbon filter, several bends and a long ducting run. That reserve of power is exactly what separates a professional extractor from a domestic model pushed to its limit.
The brushless EC motor is far more energy efficient than a conventional AC motor, especially at partial load. Where an AC motor throttled by a voltage controller wastes the surplus energy as heat, an EC motor genuinely matches its power draw to the requested speed. Across grow cycles where extraction runs 24 hours a day, that gap adds up to tens of euros a month. An investment that pays for itself cycle after cycle.
Mixed-flow geometry combines the strengths of an axial fan, namely high airflow, with those of a centrifugal fan, namely the ability to overcome static pressure. The 3D rotor-stator system straightens the outgoing airflow and removes much of the parasitic turbulence. The result is a uniform flow, aerodynamic efficiency among the best in its class, and a noticeably softer air noise than a disordered flow of equivalent power.
Powerful does not have to mean deafening. The straightened flow produced by the 3D stator, combined with the ability to run the fan well below its maximum speed, keeps the noise level perfectly liveable in everyday use. Pair this model with an inline silencer and anti-vibration mounts and you get a very high-capacity installation that stays discreet day to day.
The Can-Fan EC controller connects plug and play and varies the speed steplessly, with no surging and no electronic hum. A single controller can drive up to ten EC motors, which is enough to synchronise extraction, intake and air circulation across a multi-zone setup. You match airflow to the real thermal load instead of putting up with all-or-nothing operation.
Compact housing, integrated hanging brackets, easy access for cleaning: every design detail targets intensive use and longevity. An extractor running continuously accumulates dust and residue, and being able to open it up and clean it easily directly determines the real airflow you still get after two or three years. Can-Filters German manufacturing is a guarantee of consistency on that front.
At 2175 m³/h it comfortably covers spaces of several tens of cubic metres. In a 20 m³ grow room, for example, it can replace the entire air volume in a handful of seconds at full speed, leaving a very large margin to compensate for a carbon filter, bends and ducting. In practice it suits setups from around 4 to 5 m² of grow area upwards, or installations combining several tents on a single circuit.
A conventional AC motor is regulated by a voltage controller, which degrades its efficiency and produces heat and often an audible hum. An EC motor, meaning electronically commutated or brushless, has its control electronics built in: it genuinely matches its power draw to the requested speed, stays quiet at every speed and copes far better with sustained speed variation. On an extractor running around the clock, that is the difference between equipment you endure and equipment you control.
Yes. The Max-Fan Pro EC is designed to be driven by a Can-Fan EC controller, or any controller compatible with this motor type. Without one, the fan simply runs at full speed. We strongly recommend adding a controller: it is what lets you match airflow to the thermal load of your space, reduce noise outside heat peaks and cut electricity consumption significantly.
Absolutely, and that is its intended use. A carbon filter creates significant static pressure that drops the effective airflow of any extractor. The Max-Fan Pro EC has enough reserve power to maintain a high real-world airflow despite the filter. Just make sure you choose a filter rated for a comparable airflow, in Ø250 mm, so you do not create a bottleneck in the air circuit.
Three habits transform the acoustic comfort of a setup. First, hang the fan from straps or anti-vibration mounts rather than bolting it rigidly to a structure, so vibration is not transmitted into the building. Second, fit a Ø250 mm inline silencer on the outlet and favour insulated ducting. Third, avoid tight bends and abrupt changes of section, which generate noisy turbulence. Properly installed, an extractor of this class fades into the background.
A 2175 m³/h extractor is only worth it if it is correctly sized. At BloomLED we help you calculate the airflow your space actually needs, filter and ducting included, before you buy. Free advice beats oversized hardware every time.
