Mastering the pH and conductivity of your nutrient solution is the foundation of any successful hydroponic grow. The Hanna HI98129 brings four essential measurements — pH, EC, TDS and temperature — into a single waterproof body with lab-grade accuracy. Compact like a pen, rugged like a professional instrument, it has earned its place at BloomLED as a growshop must-have for demanding cultivators.

| Parameter | Range | Accuracy |
|---|---|---|
| pH | 0.00 to 14.00 pH | ±0.05 pH |
| Conductivity (EC) | 0 to 3999 μS/cm | ±2% full scale |
| TDS / PPM | 0 to 2000 mg/L | ±2% full scale |
| Temperature | 0.0 to 60.0 °C | ±0.5 °C |
| Compensation | Automatic ATC | 0 to 50 °C |
| Waterproof | IP67 — floats on water | Guaranteed |
With 0.01 pH resolution and ±0.05 accuracy, the HI98129 delivers reliable readings comparable to bench instruments. Steer your nutrient solution with the rigor of a pro — without the budget or the bulk.
Built for the everyday life of a growroom, the IP67 housing shrugs off splashes and brief immersion, and even floats on water. Drop it in the reservoir: zero stress, you fish it out unharmed.
ATC corrects in real time the thermal influence on pH and EC, between 0 and 50 °C. Your readings stay accurate even when the solution is fresh out of the fridge or the room runs hot during flowering.
pH, conductivity (EC), TDS (ppm) and temperature: everything an indoor grower needs to track lives in a single pen-format tool. No more juggling three instruments mid-feed.
Four 1.5 V batteries deliver close to 100 hours of continuous use. Auto-shutoff after 8 minutes of inactivity preserves the battery for weeks — or months — of normal home use.
Calibrate in seconds using pH 4.01 / 7.01 buffer solutions and EC 1413 μS/cm calibration fluid. The HI98129 stores the last calibration and prompts you when a new one is needed.
Why we picked it at BloomLED: after 10+ years testing and recommending hydroponic gear, the Hanna HI98129 still ranks among the most reliable and durable combo testers in its class. Designed in France by our BloomLED team that hand-picks every tool in our catalog, it will support your indoor garden season after season.
For typical home hydroponic use, calibrating every 2 to 4 weeks is enough. If you measure daily or readings start to drift, recalibrate immediately with pH 4.01 and 7.01 buffers and EC 1413 μS/cm fluid. A well-maintained probe (rinsed with distilled water, stored in its preservation solution) holds its accuracy much longer.
Does the HI98129 use the 500 or 700 ppm TDS scale? The HI98129 uses a fixed conversion factor (typically 0.5 — the 500 ppm scale). If your nutrient is labelled on the 700 scale or in EC, rely on the EC reading (μS/cm) which is universal and independent of the conversion factor. Most indoor growers steer by EC for that reason.
Can I use it for an aquarium or outdoor pond?Yes, as long as the conductivity stays below 3999 μS/cm. That covers most freshwater aquariums and ponds, but not seawater (which exceeds 50,000 μS/cm). For indoor cultivation, hydroponics and coco coir, the range covers 100% of typical needs.
Is the electrode replaceable?Yes, the HI98129 pH probe is replaceable (Hanna reference HI73127). With heavy use, expect a 12 to 18 month lifespan depending on care. A probe rinsed properly and stored in HI70300 storage solution lasts considerably longer.
How does it compare to the Bluelab Combo Meter or Milwaukee MW804?The Hanna HI98129 is the most compact and versatile (4 measurements, pen format, IP67). The Milwaukee MW804 shares the same readings in a slightly larger pocket format. The Bluelab Combo Meter, in console format, offers higher accuracy and a longer warranty at a higher price. Our BloomLED team will help you pick based on intensity of use.
