The TrolMaster Hydro X HCS-1 is the benchmark environmental controller for serious indoor growing. A single unit takes charge of temperature, humidity, CO2 and lighting, driving up to 512 LED or HID horticultural lamps across two channels. BloomLED stocks it because it turns a grow room into a genuinely automated system without trading away precision or day-to-day simplicity.

Temperature, relative humidity and light intensity are all read by one compact probe. Fewer cables, fewer failure points, and readings that stay consistent because they come from exactly the same spot in the canopy.
The HCS-1 orchestrates up to 512 HID or LED luminaires split over two independent channels. Run a vegetative room and a flowering room side by side, each with its own photoperiod and dimming curve.
BloomLED's SpectraPANEL X100 and X200 LED grow lights connect straight to the controller. Dimming, day/night cycles and gradual sunrise ramps are handled from the same interface as the rest of your kit.
The free smartphone app exposes every setting, live graphs and real-time alerts. A 3 a.m. temperature spike no longer goes unnoticed, wherever you happen to be.
Extra probes, switching modules, CO2 regulators — everything plugs in over RJ12 using T-splitters. The system scales with your room instead of forcing a controller upgrade.
Up to 32 GB of exportable environmental history. Review past cycles, spot the drift, and refine your setpoints crop after crop rather than guessing in the dark.
Indoor yields depend far less on raw lamp wattage than on climate stability. A grow room that swings between 21 °C and 31 °C, or whose humidity collapses overnight, keeps plants under constant stress: erratic transpiration, disrupted mineral uptake, and mould pressure in late flowering.
An environmental controller like the TrolMaster Hydro X HCS-1 removes that variability. It reads its probes continuously and fires the right equipment: extraction fan, heater, humidifier, dehumidifier, air conditioning, CO2 generator or regulator. Every parameter stays inside its optimal window with no manual intervention.
The payoff works both ways. Stable climate translates directly into biomass and finished quality. Automation also curbs waste: appliances only run when genuinely needed, which meaningfully lowers the running cost of an intensive LED grow.
The HCS-1 mounts on a wall DIN rail using the supplied bracket, ideally at eye level so the touchscreen stays accessible. Place the 3-in-1 probe at canopy height, out of the extractor's direct airflow and clear of the most intense part of the light beam, so readings reflect the air the plants actually breathe.
All wiring runs over RJ12. The supplied lengths (1.2 m and 4.9 m depending on configuration) cover most hobby and semi-professional rooms, and T-splitters let you daisy-chain several modules on one line. Check every cable length before closing up the install — mismatched runs are the single most common connection error reported by users.
Configuration then happens on the LCD touchscreen or in the app. Budget around thirty minutes to set thresholds, time windows and equipment priorities. Remote access needs a standard internet connection; satellite links such as HughesNet or Viasat are not supported.
Maintenance is minimal, but these habits determine how trustworthy your readings stay. Dust the 3-in-1 probe with a dry cloth every four to six weeks: a thin film of dust is enough to skew humidity readings and throw off regulation. Inspect the RJ12 connectors too, particularly in rooms that regularly sit above 65 % RH.
The enclosure is IP20 rated, meaning strictly indoor use with no tolerance for splashing or saturated air. Keep it out of misting zones and away from drip-line fittings. ETL and FCC certification cover electrical compliance and electromagnetic compatibility.
Finally, make the microSD logging work for you. Exporting a full cycle lets you correlate temperature and humidity curves against the result you actually harvested, then tighten the next run. That iteration, more than any initial setting, is what separates growers who improve season on season.
The Hydro X HCS-1 suits growers who have outgrown mechanical timers and standalone thermostats. If you already juggle extraction, heating, dehumidification and CO2, and coordinating them has become a chore, centralising on the HCS-1 changes the daily routine.
It also earns its place in multi-room setups: two lighting channels let you run a propagation or vegetative space alongside a flowering space, on different photoperiods, from one controller. Paired with SpectraPANEL X100 or X200 LED grow lights, the result is a coherent system where full spectrum and climate are managed together.
The HCS-1 is not just a thermostat — it is the convergence point of the whole grow room. One device, one interface, and a climate that holds steady even when you are away.
Yes. The HCS-1 drives SpectraPANEL X100 and X200 directly, including dimming and day/night cycles. Other dimmable LED or HID fixtures connect through the matching TrolMaster modules, up to 512 lights across two channels.
Yes. The HCS-1 accepts up to two humidity / CO2 probes and commands either a CO2 generator or a regulator. You set a ppm target and the controller coordinates enrichment with extraction so you are not venting the CO2 you just injected.
No. All regulation runs locally and keeps working if the network drops. Internet is only required for remote control and app notifications. Note that HughesNet and Viasat satellite connections are not supported.
The modular architecture takes up to 4 temperature probes and 2 humidity / CO2 probes, connected over RJ12 with T-splitters. That covers several zones within one grow room, or two separate spaces, from a single HCS-1.
For a 60 × 60 cm tent with one light, yes. It starts to make sense once you are controlling three or more devices, or running two spaces in parallel. For a beginner build a simple ventilation controller is usually enough — our team can point you to the right one.
