PH/EC TESTER

Bluelab Combo Meter: the reference pH/EC/Temperature tester for indoor cultivation

The Bluelab Combo Meter is the measurement tool serious growers keep within arm's reach at all times. Three critical parameters — pH, electrical conductivity (EC) and temperature — measured with professional-grade accuracy in one compact handheld unit. If you want to move from guesswork to total mastery of your nutrient solution, this Bluelab tester is the investment that changes everything.

Bluelab Combo Meter pH EC temperature tester for indoor cultivation and hydroponics

Why measuring pH, EC and temperature together changes everything

In indoor cultivation, your plants only have access to the nutrient solution you provide. If pH drifts outside the 5.5–6.5 window (hydroponics) or 6.0–7.0 (soil), essential nutrients become invisible to the roots: this is nutrient lockout. If EC spikes, roots burn; if it crashes, plants starve. Solution temperature directly drives oxygenation and uptake.

The Bluelab Combo Meter measures these three parameters simultaneously and displays the values on a large, easy-to-read screen, so you can act before deficiencies show up on the leaves. No more juggling three separate testers, no more doubting a reading: the Bluelab accuracy is recognised by professional producers around the world.

Six reasons to choose Bluelab for your grows

🌱 Professional accuracy

Bluelab is the reference brand in commercial hydroponics worldwide. The ±0.1 pH and ±0.1 EC accuracy lets you make reliable feeding decisions, without the error margin of entry-level testers. Your plants don't tolerate approximations: neither does Bluelab.

⚡ Three readings in one move

Dip both probes, read the screen: pH, EC and temperature display simultaneously. No more juggling several devices or noting values one by one. You save time on every reservoir check and limit cross-contamination risks between testers.

🎯 Factory-calibrated, ready to use

Take the unit out of the box, insert the included batteries, dip the probes: readings are already reliable. Bluelab calibrates each Combo Meter before shipping. You can re-calibrate the pH meter periodically with Bluelab pH 4 and pH 7 buffer solutions to maintain accuracy over time.

🔬 Automatic temperature compensation

An EC reading at 18 °C and the same reading at 25 °C don't give the same raw figure: conductivity depends heavily on temperature. The Bluelab Combo automatically compensates the displayed EC based on measured temperature, for a consistent reading regardless of season or time of day.

🔧 Replaceable probes — a tool for life

A pH probe wears out: it's a glass electrode whose membrane ages (12 to 24 months in regular use). Rather than throwing the whole unit away, you simply replace the probe in question. The Combo Meter becomes a tool you keep for years, with very low operating cost. Bluelab supplies compatible replacement probes.

💧 Built for hydroponics and indoor cultivation

NFT, DWC, ebb & flow, coco, amended soil, passive hydroponics: this tester adapts to every indoor cultivation method. Compact (fits in one hand), battery-powered on AAA cells, it is ideal for daily reservoir control as well as quick checks on watering water.

How to use it day-to-day

Before each solution preparation. Measure the pH and EC of your base water (tap water, RO water, filtered rainwater). Tap water often has a pH above 7.5 and an EC already loaded with limescale. Knowing these starting values lets you calculate the actual dose of nutrients and pH Down required.

After adding nutrients. Mix your fertilisers (base + boosters), let it rest 5 minutes, then measure. Adjust pH with pH Down or pH Up until reaching 5.8–6.2 in hydroponics or 6.3–6.8 in soil. Verify the total EC matches your stage target (1.2–1.6 in growth, 1.8–2.4 in flowering depending on strain).

Calibration and maintenance. Calibrate the pH probe every 2 to 4 weeks with Bluelab pH 4 and pH 7 buffer solutions. Rinse the probes with distilled water after each measurement and store the pH probe in its KCl storage solution to preserve the membrane. A well-maintained probe lasts 18 to 24 months.

Is the Bluelab Combo Meter really more accurate than an entry-level tester?

Yes, and the difference shows in your grow. Cheap testers drift quickly (sometimes 0.5 pH after a few weeks), which can be enough to trigger deficiencies invisible to the eye. Bluelab maintains its accuracy over time thanks to industrial-grade components and laboratory-grade glass probes.

How often should the pH probe be calibrated?

For weekly use, calibration every 2 to 4 weeks is enough. For intensive use (multiple readings per day, several reservoirs), move to weekly calibration. Use Bluelab pH 4.01 and pH 7.01 buffer solutions for a reliable result.

Can I use it to measure watering water in soil cultivation?

Absolutely. The Combo Meter is perfectly suited to soil cultivation as well as hydroponics. In soil, target a watering pH between 6.3 and 6.8 and an EC adapted to the stage (lower for young plants, higher in flowering). It is a versatile, indispensable tool.

What if the pH probe no longer calibrates?

That's the sign the probe is reaching end of life (typically after 18 to 24 months). You can replace it independently of the unit: Bluelab markets compatible replacement probes. This makes the Combo Meter economical in the long run.

What's the difference between the Bluelab Combo and a Hanna or Milwaukee?

Bluelab is specifically built for horticulture and hydroponics: ergonomics, suitable ranges, probes calibrated for nutrient solutions. Hanna and Milwaukee are excellent more general-purpose alternatives, often slightly cheaper. The choice depends on your budget and intensity of use.

The Bluelab Combo Meter is the tool you buy once and that follows you across dozens of grows. Pro accuracy, replaceable probes, reference brand: it's the investment that secures your yields.
