The Tecoponic HY1000 is the go-to chiller for demanding hydroponic growers and aquarium hobbyists. Engineered to stabilise the temperature of reservoirs up to 1000 litres, this professional water cooler delivers 315 W of cooling power through an anti-corrosion titanium heat exchanger and a digital thermostat adjustable to the half-degree. When summer hits and nutrient solution temperatures climb to dangerous levels, the HY1000 holds your reservoir steady between 18 and 22 °C — the exact range needed to preserve dissolved oxygen, prevent pythium and keep yields consistent. Selected by BloomLED for its industrial-grade build and unbeatable value in the 500-1000 L segment, the HY1000 integrates seamlessly with every DWC, RDWC, NFT, aeroponics or ebb-and-flow system on the market.

Above 22 °C, dissolved oxygen in the nutrient solution collapses and roots become vulnerable to pathogens — pythium, fusarium, filamentous algae. In peak summer, or under a powerful HPS / LED lamp in a sealed grow room, water temperature can easily climb to 28-30 °C within hours. The HY1000 reverses this by pulling heat out of the reservoir, exactly like an air conditioner does for ambient air. The result : a white, dense, well-oxygenated root mat capable of absorbing nutrients efficiently throughout the entire cycle.
LCD display with half-degree resolution. The HY1000 cycles its compressor automatically to hold the setpoint within ±0.5 to 1 °C, with no aggressive on/off behaviour.
Unlike entry-level chillers built around copper or stainless coils, titanium shrugs off concentrated mineral salts, phosphoric acid and pH swings — service life of 10 to 15 years in hydroponics.
Standard 3/4" connection (16 mm inner diameter) drops into every DWC, RDWC, NFT, aeroponics, ebb-and-flow or aquaponics setup. Plug-and-play installation in minutes.
Encapsulated compressor and tangential ventilation keep the noise floor low — compatible with grow spaces close to a living area.
R290 versions (propane) use a refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential of ≈ 3, fully aligned with the latest European F-Gas regulations and a responsible indoor growing philosophy.
No internal filter on most versions, easy-access fin condenser and diagnostic LEDs. A few minutes of checks per cycle is all it takes.
Place the HY1000 immediately next to your reservoir, on a stable and well-ventilated surface — leave at least 30 cm of clearance around the condenser to dissipate heat. Connect the circulation pump to the chiller inlet using 16 mm tubing, then return the cooled water to the reservoir. Optimal flow sits between 500 and 800 L/h : too low and the exchanger may freeze ; too high and thermal efficiency drops. Aim for 19-21 °C during flowering and 20-22 °C during vegetative growth.
Maintenance comes down to three monthly checks : dust the condenser fins with a brush or low-pressure air, inspect every fitting for leaks, and confirm the setpoint is held within ±1 °C. Once a year, flush the titanium exchanger with clean water to clear nutrient salt deposits. With this routine the compressor will easily exceed 10 000 hours of operation — well over ten full indoor seasons.
The HY1000 is sized for tanks up to 1000 litres at 25 °C ambient. Beyond that or under a very powerful lamp, plan for a 10 % safety margin.
What temperature should I target for a hydroponic nutrient solution ?The sweet spot is 18-22 °C : it maximises dissolved oxygen while staying friendly to nutrient uptake. Below 16 °C growth slows ; above 24 °C pythium risk skyrockets.
Can the HY1000 also heat the solution in winter ?Some versions include a bidirectional heating element. Check the spec sheet of the unit you receive ; otherwise pair the chiller with an aquarium heating cable.
Is the titanium exchanger really essential ?Yes, in hydroponics it is. Concentrated nutrients (EC > 1.8 mS) quickly corrode entry-level copper or stainless exchangers. Titanium guarantees long-term watertightness and preserves the integrity of your nutrient mix.
Which tubing and pump should I pair with the HY1000 ?A 3/4" (16 mm inner diameter) semi-rigid PE hose and a pump around 600 L/h are a perfect match. BloomLED stocks the matching 16 mm PE hose and compression fittings for a clean, professional install.
The HY1000 is today the most versatile chiller reference on the European market in the 500-1000 L segment : the ideal compromise between cooling power, reliability and ease of integration for a stress-free indoor summer.
